Supporting Documents
(i) Attested copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Municipal Authority or District Office of the Registrar of Birth and Deaths for those born on or after 26.01.1989. OR

(ii) Transfer Certificate/School Leaving Certificate showing applicant's date of birth, issued by the last school attended by the applicant. In case of Govt. schools, the transfer certificate/school leaving certificate should be signed by the Principal while in the case of Private schools, it should also be countersigned by the competent education authority of State/or District Education Officer.
Attested copy of the Certificate of Matriculation/Secondary Examination having a record of the Date of Birth. (No other proof of age will be accepted for Sr. Secondary admission).
Note :
In case of Orphan/Juvenile/Street Children, the Medical Legal Certificate may be provided as proof of Date of Birth.
Date of birth once given in the Admission Form is generally not changed. Please check and state the correct date of birth in Admission Form.
(b). Minimum       Educational       Qualifications
Certificate of Class VIII pass, or
Self Certificate (as mentioned at the back of Admission Form)
Copy of the Certificate or of the Secondary Examination passed from a recognised Board of Secondary Education, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer
(C) Proof of Residence
  1. Proof of residential address is essential for all. Attach a copy of any one of the follwing.Ration Card, or Adhar Card, or appointment letter from the Employer on letter head, or water/telephone/electricity bill/statement of running bank account or income tax assessment order/ Election Commission̢۪s Voter Identity Card, Parents Passport in case of minor.
  2. For applicant living in rented accommodation, any proof of permanent address along with any proof of present rented accommodation will be accepted.
  3. For applicants belonging to the category of street children/destitute/migrants/slum dwellers/orphans who are without any residential address of their own at present, they will have to furnish a self certificate stating their category (from the above) and certify that they do not have their own residential address and for the purpose of correspondence with NIOS, they would furnish a contact address. This self certificate will have to be countersigned by the sponsoring Guardian including NGO/Orphan Homes and attested by any Govt. Servant/ Panchayat Level Officials/Nagar Nigam Officers/Block Level Officers/District Level Officers or higher level Officers. Both the sponsoring and the attesting authorities are required to furnish their complete name, designation and address with their official stamp.
Note:
  1. Admission Forms received without required supporting documents will be rejected and fee will not be refunded.

  2. If the Secondary level examination is not passed from a recognised Board, admission at Sr. Secondary level will not be considered. List of recognised Boards is given at Appendix 'C'.

  3. If you possess a High School/Secondary Certificate from any Foreign Board/University and want to take admission to Senior Secondary course of NIOS, you will be required to attach a certificate from the concerned Embassy to the effect that the examination passed by you is equivalent to the Indian High School/Secondary Examination.

  4. If a candidate has been debarred by any other Board for using unfair means at any stage, he/she will not be eligible for admission in NIOS.

  5. The learners concealing the information, their admission will be cancelled, even at later stage.



In order to pass in a subject and get a certificate in Secondary/Senior Secondary courses, the criteria laid down by NIOS are given below:

A minimum of 33% marks in the aggregate (Theory plus practical wherever applicable) in the public examination. The maks obtained in Internal Assessment will be shown separately in the marksheet.
Pass in 5 subjects including at least one but not more than two languages.
Senior Secondary Course (Class XII)A minimum of 33% marks in the aggregate as well as separately in theory and practicals in the public examination. The maks obtained in Internal Assessment will be shown separately in the marksheet.Pass in 5 subjects including at least one but not more than two languages.
